Eggdrop

Next to IRC, there are (ro)bots, called Eggdrop. There are more kinds of bots, but the most popular is this one. It’s still supported and developed. When you are thinking of getting an eggdrop, you have to be sure you are up to it. Eggdrop’s are easy when you have some experience in Linux and IRC, but a pain when you only work in Windoze and just started with IRC’ing.

Eggdrop is the world’s most popular Open Source IRC bot, designed for flexibility and ease of use, and is freely distributable under the GNU General Public License (GPL). Eggdrop was originally developed by Robey Pointer; however, he no longer works on Eggdrop so please do not contact him for help solving a problem or bug.

You can use scripts -written in TCL- to protect your channel(s), store information, make stats and much more. They are able of using your IPv6 connection (if you have one), but then they have to be patched first.

I’ve written my own little things to provide some fun in my channels and make my bots better in protection. There is my mp3script, wich is based on a script from some one else. Unfortunatly I’ve given up on it. Off course anyone can take it and try to make it work properly.
An other script I wrote, is my karma script. It keeps track of the things people like or dislike. When someone on a channel says porn++ or porn--, the script increases or decreases it’s counter for porn. It’s function is just for fun.
